It really depends on what your family likes.
For some families, usually those with just parents and kids, Disney is fine but it might be too much for grandparents and some people want to see things other than just go on ride after ride after ride - seeing the world is an amazing thing. Some families are just not into that sort of thing and really want to take in the world in its natural state (yes even some little kids like going for hikes in the wood's and doing simple things like playing in ponds).
Wisconsin Dells is interesting.
In Canada for a family that loves outdoor adventures and natural settings without crowds I suggest Waterton Park, AB. Dinosuar lovers will want to go to Drumheller.
The Grand Canyon might be good too. Wherever you pick get a good guide before hand so you can plan things.
Some families might even like Mexico, the Mayan Riviera.
For a reference I took my daughter to Cuba when she was only 5 and she absolutely loved it. Some kids really enjoy doing real things, not just going on rides.
